We began day two, Sunday, with a visit to the magnificent, 12th century Malahide Castle located along the beautiful north Dublin coast and close to the picturesque seaside village of Malahide. Again with the Dublin pass, entrance was free instead of 12 euros. Malahide Castle is one of the oldest castles in Ireland and has been home to the Talbot family for over 800 years.
We then continued our train journey to Skerries a beautiful seaside town. There we paid a visit (actually we didn't pay the 6.25 euros, as entrance with the Dublin pass is free as well!) to the Skerries Mills where we tried our hand at stone grinding flour and saw the water wheel in action turning the sieves and blowers inside the mill. The tour guide even took us to the top of the 4 Sail Windmill with wonderful views of the islands off Skerries coastline.
